On a happier note, if you get the chance to see this show while they're touring, it is well worth it. It's basically the story of Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, and Glenda, the Good Witch of the North, before they became bitter enemies. Believe it or not, they were friends once upon a time. The story also clues you in as to why Elphaba is so green! The apparatus they used for the "great and powerful Oz" was pretty neat as well - and a little scary. Since you're not allowed to take pics inside the show, I got these off the Internet. Again, this show is a "must see" for those who enjoy live performances! Great story and impressive effects!!

Busy Weekend...
Later on Saturday, we met some friends at The Old Spaghetti Factory (http://www.osf.com/) downtown for dinner. It's a really pretty restaurant with beautiful wood floors and ornate wood carvings throughout the restaurant. In one of the dining areas lies a train dining car with steps going into it - inside the train are tables and chairs so you can sit in there and eat as well.
We went to church on Sunday (http://www.ibcnashville.org/) and afterwards met my cousins who were in town for the weekend at Blacksone (http://www.blackstonebrewery.com/) for lunch. I worked from home Sunday afternoon/night and before I knew it, the weekend was GONE!
Today is mine and John's 2-year anniversary - he was very sweet and brought me flowers at work today and took me out to Zoe's (http://www.zoeskitchen.com/) for lunch. Then we ate tonight at The Firefly (sorry, no website but AMAZING food) in Green Hills.
Tomorrow, John's mom and some of her friends are coming up to see "Wicked" (http://www.wickedthemusical.com/) at the TPAC (http://www.tpac.org/) - we have tickets to go Saturday night). We're meeting them tomorrow night at Bosco's for dinner (http://www.boscosbeer.com/), so we're looking forward to that.
As you can see....we eat out alot. If you're ever visiting Nashville, please let us know - we can recommend some great restaurants! We feel it is our duty to do our part to stimulate the economy... :)
That's all for now - 'night!

Luke Perry at Noshville
On Sunday before they left, we went to Noshville (http://www.noshville.com/) in Downtown Nashville to eat breakfast. Andrew was the first to notice we were having breakfast next to Luke Perry! We were seated in the back corner of the restaurant. Luke was sitting next to me facing the wall. I'm sure they put him there on purpose so no one could really tell he was there. This was my second famous person sighting since living in Nashville. My first was Young Buck --he had parallel parked his Escalade on Music Row and when I was driving past, he decided to open his door. I almost took his door off! There was no wreck though, so I am thankful for that - it was just a really close call. John was with me when it happened - if John hadn't recognized him, I don't think I would have known.
John gets to see famous people frequently in his line of work and is "over it." As for me, I still think it's kind of neat. I don't ask for autographs or anything - I try to give them the same respect and privacy I'd want if I were a celebrity and out minding my own business. But that's just me.

Okay.... so it's been a while...

It's been a while...
Here we are at our family birthday celebration at the Catfish Hotel, one of the oldest family-owned restaurants in the country...
And what birthday celebration would be complete with a delicious cake from Edgar's? The cake was huge! We ended up giving the bulk of it to the waiters and waitresses in the restaurant!
Here we are at with some of Pickwick Dam in the background...
On the way back from Pickwick, we took the Natchez Trace back to Nashville and stopped at some of the sights along the way. We try to take the Trace home whenever possible. It's so peaceful, there's hardly any traffic (no stoplights or stop signs whatsoever!), and it's conserves gas b/c of the speed limit. Plus, it takes the same amount of time for us to go home by the Trace as it does the Interstate.
This is a creek that runs across the original Natchez Trace. There are places along the new Natchez Trace where you can get off road a little bit and travel down the original Trace. This is one of the spots where we traveled the original Trace.
This is the sight where Merriwether Lewis of the great Lewis and Clark explorer duo died - this was erected over the spot where his remains were found. According to the plaques here and at the Grinder House close by (the Inn where he was staying), his gun accidentally went off and killed him.
Here is a picture of part of the original Natchez Trace. You can't really tell from the picture, put the pathway is extremely narrow. I don't know how a buggy with two horses pulling it side by side would have made it. It would have been a stretch for one horse and a buggy in my opinion. Of course, I guess it's always possible that the original Trace has changed some over the years.

And the winner is....
Last night, John and I attended the 26th annual Colgate Country Showdown (http://www.countryshowdown.com/) at the Ryman here in Nashville. The Ryman is the former home of the Grand 'Ole Opry. Basically, the Showdown is the American Idol of country music with a slew of famous former contestants including Billy Ray Cyrus and Martina McBride. People compete at their own local, state, regional, etc. levels and the regional winners wind up here, competing for the chance to win $100,000. Congratulations to Nash Street on their success - they're on their way! Afterwards, we went to a reception for the band at the Sheraton downtown. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed seeing some people from back home!
The Ryman Auditorium (http://www.ryman.com/)
The Showdown was hosted by LeAnn Rimes.
Here are all the finalists on stage right before the winners were announced singing short clips from their most favorite songs...
